Finding Space
THE GALLERY COLLECTION
From the cloudy peaks of the Appalachian Mountains to the humble Piedmont fields of North Carolina, this collection embodies physical locations where I have stopped, quieted myself, and surrendered to something greater than the cacophony of demands and distractions. These are moments of rebellion – declarations that peace, stillness, and rest endure despite the pressures on us to relinquish them.

Amid the ceaseless development surrounding us, there exists a field. It is the same field that captured my attention when I was a young girl gazing through the windows of my family’s worn old minivan. While the field itself remains unchanged, everything surrounding it has been transformed. Where once stood an old, weathered farmhouse, now stand fresh, new homes. The dilapidated tobacco farm that rested in the field was displaced by a shiny, sprawling shopping center. Yet, the spacious field remains; a sliver of defiant space enduring despite a flood of transformation, like a whisper to the passersby who listen invites us to pause, observe, and inhale deeply.
I have discovered what the field holds. I have found space. "Finding Space" is a collection born from the pursuit of capturing moments that invite us into deeper places of stillness in a world of relentless progress. In these spaces, we reconnect with the eternal truth that there exist ever-present sanctuaries for breathing, remembering, and rediscovering ourselves. These are the moments patiently waiting for us to turn our gaze from the pulls on our time and attention to refocus our hearts on peace.
From the cloudy peaks of the Appalachian Mountains to the humble Piedmont field that bestowed this revelation in my youth, this collection embodies physical locations where I have stopped, quieted myself, and surrendered to something greater than the cacophony of demands and distractions. These are moments of rebellion – declarations that peace, stillness, and rest endure despite the pressures on us to relinquish them.
I extend an invitation to join me in this quiet rebellion. As you contemplate each painting, I implore you to inhale deeply. Notice. Find space.
